Make Millions Aware of your Cause!

As doom and gloom scenarios invade our living rooms, a more positive approach to awareness raising is a welcomed change. The Council is partnering with Live Earth in a historic campaign that aims to fund water projects and get people involved through entertainment. As a Council member, you get direct access to be a part of this event where your organization can reach out to millions

The Dow Live Earth Run for Water is a campaign combining entertainment and a series of runs around the world. Live Earth was built upon the belief that entertainment has the power to transcend social and cultural barriers to move the world community to action. The campaign focuses on the sources and impact of the water crisis locally, nationally and internationally and actions individuals can take to effectively address the issue.

The main event will take place on April 18th 2010.  A series of 6 km run/walks (the average distance many women and children walk every day to secure water) will take place over the course of 24 hours in countries around the world. The courses will be accompanied by concerts, education activities and much more.

How can I get involved?

There are several ways to get involved with the events:

- Host a booth and interact with thousands of people running for water.  You can find the list of confirmed cities and the NGO partners paired with each event here: liveearth.org/en/cities; Local beneficiary partners are still called for in a few locations.  If you are interested in getting involved with any of these events please email NGO@liveearth.org.

- At any location worldwide on April 18th 2010, NGOs, governmental organizations, companies or individuals can organize “Friends of Live Earth” events in their communities that benefit local water organizations.  If you’re interested in organizing one of these local events, you can find out how to do so here:  liveearth.org/en/friends

Who else is involved?

The campaign will also feature concerts and water education activities aimed at igniting a tipping point to help solve the water crisis. Jessica Biel, Alexandra Cousteau, Pete Wentz, Angelique Kidjo and Jenny Fletcher will lend their names and their time in support of this important cause.
